Planting Fields is the former Gold Coast estate of the W.R. Coe family, a National Register property with more than 400 acres of rolling lawns, gardens, woodlands and nature walks. The Camellia Greenhouse holds the largest camellia collection in the northeast, and the Main Greenhouse has collections of hibiscus, orchids, succulents and seasonal displays. Coe Hall, the family's Tudor Revival residence, is open for guided tours seasonally, with hours and fees on the Planting Fields Foundation website. The park is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the greenhouses are open Wednesday-Monday and closed Tuesdays.
