Ponca State Park sits on the Missouri River bluffs in northeastern Nebraska and is the eastern gateway to the 59-mile Missouri National Recreational River. It is known for forested hills, scenic vistas, and wildlife watching, and the National Audubon Society recognizes it as an important birding destination. The park has 22 miles of hiking and biking trails, the Tri-State Overlook with views of Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa, the Towers of Time sculpture, the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex, and a Resource and Education Center. Visitors also fish, boat, kayak, canoe, swim, and hunt. The aquatic center charges separate fees: day passes are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Lodging includes 27 year-round cabins (15 four-bedroom mini-lodges, 10 two-bedroom cottages, and two straw-bale cabins) and four seasonal rustic cabins. Three campgrounds offer Electric Plus, Electric, and Basic sites.
