Danish Alps State Recreation Area is named for early Danish settlers in the area. Its Kramper Reservoir is a 219-acre lake planned with shoreline and boat fishing in mind, surrounded by 520 acres of parkland. The lake holds largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, channel catfish, and walleye, and has a handicap-accessible fishing pier. It is a no-wake lake with a boat launch and kayak launch. Visitors can also hike, bike, ride equestrian trails, hunt, and picnic in three day-use areas with tables, grills, shelters, and a playground. Camping includes 36 Electric Plus sites, 22 Basic sites, and 14 equestrian sites with corrals. About half of the sites are reservable up to 180 days ahead during peak season.
