Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla is one of the oldest operating state parks in the United States, dating to 1827. The mineral springs here were used by the Muscogee (Creek) people long before settlers arrived, and later they drew visitors seeking the water's reputed healing properties. Visitors can still fill jugs with free spring water at the historic spring house, and the park also has a lake, trails, a museum and picnic areas. Cabins and campsites offer places to stay, and the stone buildings and shaded grounds give the park a timeless feel. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and camping runs $20 to $42 per night. It is a great stop for history lovers and anyone who enjoys a slow, relaxed visit.
