Hither Hills State Park has scenic picnic areas with fireplaces, a sandy ocean beach, playing fields, a playground and a 189-site oceanside campground. Anglers can fish year-round and obtain permits for night fishing. The "walking dunes" of Napeague Harbor lie on the park's eastern boundary, and woodlands hold Russian olive, oak, shad and pine. Bridle paths and hiking, nature, biking and cross-country ski trails are available.
