Prophetstown State Park near West Lafayette preserves restored prairie and wetlands where the Wabash and Tippecanoe rivers meet. The wide-open landscape, with tallgrass and big skies, offers a rare glimpse of what much of the region once looked like. Trails cross prairie and wetlands and are excellent for birdwatching and wildflowers. The park is also connected to Historic Prophetstown, a living history site that tells the story of the Native American village and the farming community that followed, and entry to both is combined. Entry is $8 per vehicle with Indiana plates and $16 for out-of-state vehicles, including Historic Prophetstown, with camping rates varying by site. Summer and fall bring the best prairie color.
