Turkey Run State Park near Marshall is one of Indiana's best-loved parks, famous for its deep sandstone gorges and ravines along Sugar Creek. Towering cliffs, hemlock-lined canyons and rocky streams create scenery that feels far more rugged than most of the Midwest. Trails lead through narrow gorges, across wooden stairways and over a suspension bridge above the creek. Turkey Run Inn offers lodging, and the campground and canoeing on Sugar Creek add more ways to enjoy the area. Trails can be challenging, especially after rain, so sturdy shoes are a good idea. Entry is $7 per vehicle with Indiana plates and $15 for out-of-state vehicles, with camping rates varying by site. Weekends in fall are especially popular.
