Hopeville Pond State Park in Griswold is a lake park at the edge of the Pachaug Forest region of eastern Connecticut. The pond, tall pines and quiet shoreline give it a classic New England camping feel. A swimming beach and campground make it popular with families, and the area's mill history adds a layer of interest, with old stone remains tucked among the trees. Fishing and paddling are also popular, and trails lead into the surrounding woods. Entry is free, and camping is $20 per night. Reserve early for summer weekends.
