Bluff Point State Park & Coastal Reserve in Groton protects about 800 acres of undeveloped coastal peninsula, one of the last wild stretches of Connecticut shoreline. Salt marshes, beaches, woods and open meadows make it a rare natural refuge along a busy coast. A network of trails and old carriage roads leads through the reserve to a beach and headland, offering easy hiking, biking and birdwatching. The mix of habitats supports a wide variety of wildlife, and views across the water make it a favorite for walkers and photographers. Entry is free. Bring water and insect repellent in summer, and stay on the trails to protect the sensitive habitats.
