Elgin Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school where grades one through eight were taught from 1922 through 1967. A 1924 addition provided teacher housing, and the site has original schoolhouse items, period-authentic furnishings, and a small teacher's apartment. It became a state park in 2005. Tours are offered on the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment. A picnic table is available, and leashed pets are allowed. The site is remote, reached by 36 miles of graded gravel on Kane Springs Road from Highway 93, with no services at the site or along the road. The road is unsuitable for trailers or motor homes.
