Kershaw-Ryan State Park, established in 1935, is a canyon oasis where natural springs grow a garden of wild grapevines, white oaks, fruit trees, and willows beneath canyon walls up to 700 feet high. Samuel and Hannah Kershaw moved to nearby Meadow Valley Wash in 1873 and cultivated an orchard where park amenities now stand. The park has 14 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, a picnic area, volleyball, horseshoes, and a children's wading pool. The 16-unit campground has 30/50-amp RV hookups, a restroom, coin showers, and a dump station, plus four first-come, first-served tent sites. The campground is open 24 hours and day use is 8 a.m. to sunset.
