Beaver Dam State Park, established in 1935, features streams and waterfalls, pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa forests, and dramatic outcrops of volcanic and sedimentary rock formed over more than 10 million years of volcanic activity. Remnants of the historic Hamblin Ranch are visible in the northern section. Wildlife includes turkeys, mule deer, coyotes, mountain lions, and various reptiles. Visitors can hike the Overlook, Oak Knoll, and Waterfall trails, fish for rainbow trout in stocked streams, picnic, and ride more than ten miles of established OHV trails. There are two developed campgrounds and a Watchable Wildlife Area. Water is available April through November. There is no electric power or trailer dump station, and winter access may be limited.
