Buffalo Bill State Recreation Area is a 25-acre camping area on what was once the 4,000-acre spread that Buffalo Bill Cody called Scout's Rest Ranch. It offers hiking and great fishing access to the North Platte River, and it sits next to Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park. There are 23 camping pads with hookups, 18 with 30-amp and five with 50-amp service, plus eight basic campsites without electricity. Camping is all first-come, first-served, and campers register their nightly camping fees in a locked box called an Iron Ranger.
