Sutherland Reservoir State Recreation Area has a 3,000-surface-acre lake just off Interstate 80 in western Nebraska, with great spots for swimming, picnicking, camping, fishing, and boating. Anglers catch channel catfish, freshwater drum, walleye, smallmouth bass, wipers, and yellow perch. The area has three boat ramps, two docks, one unsupervised swim beach, trap shooting ranges, and an ADA-accessible fishing pier. Hunters pursue dove, pheasant, and waterfowl. Camping is first-come, first-served year-round, with 22 Electric Plus sites and more than 100 primitive sites, vault restrooms, and water. Fees are paid at Iron Ranger boxes with cash or check.
