Burke Lake Recreation Area is an oasis on the prairie, with a 25-acre lake surrounded by trees on a 206-acre site just east of Burke. The lake is shallow, averaging only about eight feet, and suits boating, kayaking and canoeing. Native and introduced prairie grasses and wildflowers cover the park, and wildlife of all kinds live there. Fishing, hiking and picnicking round out the day-use options. The campground has 15 first-come, first-served campsites.
