About this park

New Discovery State Park is in Groton State Forest, where Native Americans and French travelers used routes through Groton to travel between Canada and Massachusetts as early as 1704. Colonists later settled the area earlier than many parts of Vermont because the waterways made travel easier. A trail leads up Owl's Head. Season runs from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through the second Monday in October. Pavilions at Osmore Pond and Owl's Head can be rented.
