Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda, a restful setting for canoeists, boaters, anglers, swimmers and campers, while steep mountains challenge hikers. A nineteen-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail passes through the park and over sixty miles of trails are marked. The summit of Wawayanda Mountain has sensational views. The park includes the 1,325-acre Bearfort Mountain Natural Area. The gate is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. April through October.
