Sebastian Inlet State Park in Melbourne Beach sits on a barrier island where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian River Lagoon. The inlet is one of the top surf-fishing and surfing spots on Florida's east coast, and jetties reach out into the water. The McLarty Treasure Museum tells the story of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, which wrecked along this coast, and includes artifacts recovered from the sea. Visitors can also swim, paddle, camp and walk the beach. Entry is $8 per vehicle. Weekends are busy, so arrive early for parking and a good fishing spot.
