Tallulah Gorge State Park at Tallulah Falls is one of the most spectacular natural sights in Georgia, a two-mile gorge that plunges about 1,000 feet deep. Dramatic cliffs, roaring waterfalls and swirling pools fill the canyon carved by the Tallulah River. Rim trails lead to overlooks with striking views, and a suspension bridge crosses high above the gorge floor. Hikers who want a closer look can obtain permits to descend to the gorge floor, and the interpretive center explains the area's natural and human history. A campground and lake add to the options for longer stays. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and camping costs $20 to $42 per night. Check ahead for gorge-floor permit availability and water release days.
