Falling Waters State Park near Chipley is home to Florida's highest waterfall, a 73-foot ribbon of water that plunges into a narrow cylindrical sinkhole. In a state known for flat terrain, the sight of a waterfall in a deep, jungle-like sinkhole is a genuine surprise. A short boardwalk and trail lead to an overlook of the falls and the sinkhole, where the water disappears into the earth. The park also has a swimming lake, nature trails through rolling hills of the Florida Panhandle, a campground and picnic areas, making it an easy place to spend a day or a weekend. Entry is $5 per vehicle. Visit after a period of rain, when the falls have the most water.
