About this park

Big Deer State Park is in the Groton State Forest Recreation Area, close to the Groton Nature Center, Boulder Beach and Stillwater State Parks. Native Americans and French travelers used routes through Groton as early as 1704 to reach Canada and Massachusetts, and settlers came to this part of Vermont earlier than other areas because waterways made travel easier. The park is a campground, open from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The street address is approximate and the coordinates are the shared Groton State Forest point.
