Navajo State Park near Arboles sits on a huge reservoir of about 15,000 surface acres that straddles the Colorado-New Mexico line. It is the largest body of water in southwest Colorado and is sometimes called Colorado's answer to houseboat country. The lake supports boating, waterskiing, fishing and swimming, and a marina serves boaters. Campgrounds and picnic areas make it a good destination for families, and the mix of water and high desert scenery is unusual for the state. A daily parks pass costs $10 per vehicle, and camping runs $18 to $36 per night. Summer is the busiest season, so plan ahead for campsites.
