Fisher Grove State Park mixes history with recreation on the James River east of Redfield. It is named for Frank I. Fisher, the first permanent European settler in Spink County. The park includes a historic river crossing used by Native Americans and later by the Watertown-to-Pierre stage line at Belchers Ford. Visitors can camp at 22 electrical sites, picnic, fish, paddle and bike on park roads. It is a quiet, shaded spot along the river.
