About this park

Fort Ransom State Park takes its name from an 1860s military fort and sits in the wooded Sheyenne River Valley. The river offers canoeing, fishing and bird watching. A short segment of the North Country National Scenic Trail passes through the park. In summer, horseback riding and camping are favorites, and in winter cross-country skiing is popular. A farmstead in the park hosts the annual Sodbuster Days celebration.
