Silver Springs State Park in Ocala is home to one of Florida's oldest tourist attractions, famous for its glass-bottom boat tours over the crystal-clear springs. The boats have been carrying visitors along the Silver River for well over a century. The park's long river offers paddling, and wildlife such as turtles, fish and even wild monkeys can be seen along the banks. Trails wander through shady forest, and campsites and cabins provide comfortable places to stay. Entry is $8 per vehicle, plus the cost of boat tours. Book tours early on weekends and holidays.
