The Red House Area is centered on Red House Lake and the historic Tudor-style Administration Building, which holds a natural history museum, regional headquarters and a gift shop. A sandy beach, boat and bike rentals and five miles of paved bike paths are close by. Visitors fish, walk, snowshoe, cross-country ski and snowmobile, and the park has fields and courts for softball, tennis, horseshoes and volleyball. Thunder Rocks is a bedrock "city" of large boulders, the Stone Tower looks out over forested hills, and beaver ponds are good for watching wildlife. Camping ranges from a weekend stay to an extended vacation.
