Salt Plains State Park is one of Oklahoma's most unique state parks. The nearby Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge is a barren landscape of salt left by an ancient ocean, and the park's Great Salt Plains Lake is about half as salty as the ocean. Visitors bird watch and hike nature trails. Equestrians can ride designated trails and use the equestrian campgrounds, and fishing at the lake is fun for the whole family. The park offers cabins and campsites.
