Brown County State Park near Nashville is Indiana's largest state park, covering 15,776 acres of steep, hilly hardwood forest in the south-central part of the state. The rolling ridges are often compared to the hills of much farther east, and the park is especially famous for its fall color. Scenic vistas such as Hesitation Point reward hikers and drivers with long views over the treetops, and miles of trails serve hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. Abe Martin Lodge offers comfortable lodging, and the campgrounds give visitors more ways to stay. The nearby town of Nashville adds galleries, shops and restaurants. Entry is $7 per vehicle with Indiana plates and $15 for out-of-state vehicles, with camping rates varying by site. October weekends are extremely busy, so plan early if you want to see the leaves at their peak.
