Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis covers about 1,700 acres on the site of the former Fort Benjamin Harrison. Wooded ravines, rolling terrain and the winding Fall Creek make it a green refuge on the city's northeast side. Trails wander through mature forest, and Fall Creek offers a place for quiet water access. An inn and a golf course add to the recreation options, and historic military buildings from the former fort remain part of the landscape. Entry is $7 per vehicle with Indiana plates and $15 for out-of-state vehicles, with camping rates varying by site. It is one of the best spots in Indianapolis for a real woodland outing without leaving the metro area.
