Eldorado Canyon State Park near Boulder is a world-famous canyon of golden sandstone walls, rising steeply above South Boulder Creek. The dramatic cliffs and views toward the Continental Divide make it one of the most striking places on the Front Range. The park is a mecca for rock climbers, who come for its long, sheer routes, but it is also a beautiful place for hiking, picnicking and fishing. Trails lead to overlooks and up into the surrounding hills, and the creek adds a peaceful soundtrack. A daily parks pass costs $10 per vehicle. Parking can fill early on nice days, so arrive early or plan for a weekday visit.
