Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, established in 1973, covers 528 acres next to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The site has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years and later became a working ranch and luxury retreat, with owners including comedian Chester Lauck, actress Vera Krupp, and Howard Hughes. The park has an 1860s blacksmith shop, the Sandstone Cabin (an original settler home), a ranch house with visitor information, and tree-shaded picnic areas with tables and grills. Four plant communities (desert scrub, black brush, pinyon-juniper, and riparian) support mule deer, bighorn sheep, kit fox, and coyote. Visitors hike, picnic, take self-guided ranch tours, join living history programs, and attend Super Summer Theatre outdoor performances from May through September.
