Haines Memorial State Park began as two picnic groves and later added ball fields. In the 1930s the Civilian Conservation Corps built fireplaces and shaped the turf to improve the beach, and a bath house was added in 1940. Today it is a stop on the East Bay Bike Path and has been the site of a seasonal farmer's market since 2002. It offers a handicap-accessible boat ramp, restrooms, picnic areas, saltwater fishing and game fields, which the Town of Barrington rents.
