Alexandria State Recreation Area is a small, level, shaded park in southeast Nebraska with 55 acres of land and two no-wake lakes totaling 46 acres of water. The lakes hold bass, bluegill, carp, catfish, crappie, and redear sunfish, and the park is also used for biking, boating, hiking, and picnicking. The campground has 40 grass-pad RV sites with 30-amp hookups, five of them with 50-amp service, and nine sites without electricity. A modern restroom, water, pit toilets, a dump station, and a playground are provided, and two picnic shelters are available, with the large one having power and water. Mature shade trees cover the area. Campsites are first-come, first-served with self-service payment at an Iron Ranger. Rock Creek Station State Historical Park, the starting point of Wild Bill Hickok's story, is about 22 miles away.
