This trailhead serves the west Gorge hike to the Angel's Rest viewpoint, a workout with a big reward. The trail starts near river level, climbs through trees and over boulders and ends on a bluff above the river. From the top, hikers get a 270-degree view of the Gorge including Beacon Rock and Silver Star Mountain. Hikers can extend the trip east to Wahkeena Falls on the Gorge Trail 400 for a short backpacking route or loop back. A day-use parking fee applies at the trailhead.
