Lums Pond State Park near Bear is the largest state park in Delaware, centered on the roughly 200-acre Lums Pond. Woodlands, wetlands and open fields surround the water, creating varied habitat for birds and other wildlife. Recreation is the park's strength. Visitors can rent boats, fish on the pond, hike and bike the trails, or try the Go Ape treetop adventure course. Campsites make it easy to stay overnight, and the picnic areas are popular for family gatherings. Admission is $4 for Delaware residents and $8 for out-of-state visitors on weekdays, and $8 and $16 on weekends, from March through November. With so much to do, it is well worth a full day.
