Battle Island State Park takes its name from a battle fought on a nearby island in the Oswego River in the mid-1700s. Land was deeded to the state in 1916, and the property became a state park in 1938. The park is best known for its 18-hole golf course beside the river near Fulton, with views from many fairways and greens. It also offers picnicking in a quiet riverside setting.
