Rockford Lake State Recreation Area has about 300 land acres surrounding a 150-acre lake, with boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, and camping. Anglers catch bullhead, bluegill, carp, catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, walleye, and wiper. A one-mile hiking trail, a playground, hunting, a dock, and a boat ramp are available. The swim beach has no lifeguard on duty. Picnickers have 90 tables, 88 grills, and two shelters. There are 72 campsites: 30 pads with 30/50-amp hookups, two pads without electricity, and 40 non-pad sites. Water and vault toilets are provided but there are no showers, modern restrooms, or dump station. Camping is first-come, first-served with payment at an Iron Ranger, and cabin or lodge reservations are at 1-844-637-2757.
