The Bernice Area of Grand Lake State Park lies on the northwestern corner of Grand Lake and is known as the Crappie Capital of the World. It also offers fishing for largemouth bass, sunfish, white bass, channel catfish and bluegill. The 88-acre area has primitive tent sites and 33 RV sites with water and 50 amp electric, all reservable online. Two comfort stations with hot showers sit on either side of the park, with a central dump station. Picnic areas are scattered through the park, and there is one covered shelter. A nature center is open on a seasonal schedule.
