Tall Pines State Preserve spans about 110 acres in Gloucester County and is the county's first state-designated park preserve. It was once a golf course called Eagles Nest and later Maple Ridge, abandoned in 2006 and allowed to rewild. Trees, meadows and wetlands have reclaimed the landscape and erased most traces of the course. The preserve was protected in June 2016 after an eight-year effort by the South Jersey Land and Water Trust. It is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
