Crown Point preserves the ruins of two fortifications from the colonial wars between the British and French. The French built Fort St. Frederic here between 1734 and 1737 and used it as a base for raids on British settlements in New York and New England, and the British later mounted campaigns against it. The site is on a strategic peninsula on Lake Champlain, with Adirondack views. Grounds are open sunrise to sunset year-round at no charge. The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from 9:30 a.m. (last entry 4:30 p.m.), May 9 to October 18, 2026, with orientation talks and guided walking tours. A picnic pavilion for up to 50 can be reserved May 15 to October 12.
