About this park

It was in Joseph W. Drexel's Adirondack cottage that General Ulysses S. Grant died of throat cancer on July 23, 1885. He arrived on June 16, 1885, with family, friends, servants and physicians to finish his memoirs, and died four days after his final proofreading. The cottage and its furnishings remain essentially as they were during the Grant family's stay. The 2026 season runs May 2 to November 1, Wednesday-Sunday in spring and fall and Tuesday-Sunday from July 1 to September 6, with tours on the hour and the last entry at 3:30 p.m.
