Ocoee River State Park is home to the internationally recognized whitewater sites along the Ocoee River. The Ocoee is the only Olympic river in the United States and the world's only natural river to have hosted Olympic whitewater competition, serving as the venue for the canoe and kayak slalom events during the 1996 Summer Olympics. Tennessee State Parks began managing the river in 1984, along with the Hiwassee Scenic River, creating the Hiwassee/Ocoee River State Park. In 2025 the park was divided into Hiwassee Scenic River State Park and Ocoee River State Park. The listed coordinates are approximate for the river corridor.
