Reed Bingham State Park near Adel sits on a lake in south Georgia's coastal plain, where baldcypress trees rise from the water and pine forests fill the drier ground. The landscape has a distinctly southern feel that is quite different from the mountains to the north. The park is a good place to spot gopher tortoises, and the lake supports beach swimming, fishing and paddling. Kayak trails wind through the cypress, and a campground and picnic areas make it easy to stay a while. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and camping runs $20 to $42 per night. It is a good stop for wildlife lovers traveling along Interstate 75.
