Battle Mountain Forest State Scenic Corridor sits on U.S. 395 nine miles north of Ukiah and was bought to protect a forest of ponderosa pine, larch, Douglas fir and spruce that is prime wildlife habitat. The name commemorates one of the last battles between Native Americans and settlers in eastern Oregon, fought near the park. It is a convenient summer gathering place, and spring brings wildflowers and wildlife.
