About this park

Washington Crossing State Park is the site of General George Washington's Christmas night crossing of the icy Delaware River in 1776. For almost ten hours boats and ferries carried men, horses and cannon to the New Jersey side, and by midnight a storm was throwing sleet, hail and snow at the army. The Continental Army landed at Johnson's Ferry. The park has trails and day-use areas, and the gate is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
