Baker Creek State Park lies on the shore of Lake Thurmond (Clarks Hill Lake), a reservoir of more than 70,000 acres on the Georgia line. It is a small, forested park popular with mountain bikers, campers and anglers. About ten miles of rolling loop trails wind through oak and pine woods and are among the better-known mountain bike trails in the state. Two boat ramps give access to the lake, and a covered pavilion that holds around 160 people overlooks the water for group events. The campground has about 34 sites for tents and RVs, making it an easy weekend base for fishing and riding.
