Red Willow Reservoir State Recreation Area has 4,320 acres of land around a 1,628-acre lake. Anglers catch common carp, channel catfish, crappie, flathead catfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, smallmouth bass, walleye, white bass, and wipers, and hunters find pheasants, rabbits, whitetail and mule deer, and occasional quail. Facilities include a marina with boat ramps at three locations, a swim beach, 13 picnic shelters, two miles of hiking trails, and a 20-target archery range. Ongoing drought may mean low water or local fire bans. Camping includes 48 pads with 30- and 50-amp hookups plus Electric Plus, Electric, Basic, and Primitive sites, with showers and a dump station at Willow View Campground. Half the sites are reservable up to 180 days ahead.
