Hawk Springs State Recreation Area is a small site on the southeastern border of Wyoming with 24 primitive, walk-up campsites. Each has picnic tables and fire rings, and the area also has a boat ramp, dock, restrooms and a playground. Water hydrants run seasonally, from May 1 through September 30. Boating, fishing and swimming are the main activities, and the reservoir has long been a popular fishing spot. With the right fees and permits, the area is open 24 hours a day year-round. The page lists a harmful algal bloom advisory for the northwest boat ramp.
