Gebhard Woods State Park in Morris is a shady 30-acre park bordered by the Illinois & Michigan Canal and Nettle Creek. Tall trees, quiet water and easy access make it a pleasant place for a peaceful afternoon. Visitors can picnic beneath the trees, walk the canal towpath and paddle a canoe on the canal. The park is part of the corridor that tells the story of the canal, which once linked the Great Lakes with the Mississippi River system, and interpretive signs add context. There is no vehicle entry fee. Combine your visit with a walk or bike ride along the canal trail.
