Mueller State Park near Divide covers about 5,000 acres of mountain forest and meadows west of Pikes Peak. Aspen groves, granite outcrops and wide-open vistas give the park a classic Colorado high-country character. About 55 miles of trails serve hikers, bikers and horseback riders, and overlooks provide dramatic views of the surrounding peaks. Elk are a common sight, especially in the early morning and evening. The park's campgrounds and cabins make it a popular choice for family trips, and fall color is a highlight. A daily parks pass costs $10 per vehicle, and camping runs $18 to $36 per night. Reserve early for autumn weekends.
